Growing Up Too Fast

December 22, 2006

Has the world gone mad? I related to my radio audience a few weeks ago a story about a 4-year-old who buried his head in a teaching assistant's chest and was suspended for sexual harassment. Now we have the story from Hagerstown , MD of a five-year-old boy pinching the buttocks of a female student and he stands accused of sexual harassment.

Folks, four and five-year-olds don't have any idea what sex is! But this is the mentality of the leftist nuts out there who cry sexual harassment each and every time someone looks at them the wrong way. I remember a comment made by a co-worker of mine many years ago as we exited a mandatory sexual harassment meeting in the wake of the Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas hysteria. After learning that the company would no longer tolerate any form of sexual harassment, she said, “Darn. Sexual harassment was the only sex life I had.” I laughed out loud at the time but I'm beginning to think she was on to something. Perhaps that's the problem with these people who see sexual harassment around every corner.

Many of these reactionary liberals think every male is inherently evil – no matter how young. Men are pigs in their eyes. It's just a matter of time before we show our true colors. They may as well start putting us in our place at four or five. The problem with this mentality is it can completely screw up the mind of an impressionable little boy. Labels from teachers are powerful things. You label a five-year-old as a sexual predator and you may just have a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The sad part is, the little kid being charged with sexual harassment in Hagerstown was not an isolated incident. Last school year, 15 kindergartners in Maryland were suspended for sexual harassment. Fifteen! Thirteen others were suspended for other “sex offenses” including sexual assault and sexual activity. Come on!

As we worry that our children are growing up too fast these idiots are hastening the pace through their thoughtless labels and their inappropriate punishment for activity that has heretofore been regarded as normal childhood behavior. Do I condone a little boy pinching a little girl in the fanny? Of course not, but I don't condone his pulling her pigtails either and the two should be punished in the same manner. Once you single out a little boy as a sexual predator that label will follow him all the way to the point where he begins to understand what it means. This time-bomb then blows up in your face.

Instead of ridding ourselves of junior sex offenders, we need to be spraying for these wacked-out head cases who feel it necessary to get even for their lack of a love life by cuffing every kid who looks sideways at a little girl. This is feminism on steroids. Kindergartners should be worrying about things like broken crayons and whether or not recess is going to get rained out. The last thing they need to worry about is some sick, self-absorbed social misfit misandrist with an axe to grind. Before you go scrambling for the dictionary, a misandrist is a woman who hates males. The fact that you've probably heard misogynist (woman hater) all your life but have never known there was a word for man hater should tell you something about our society.

We stood and watched as a generation of young boys was feminized all in the name of compassion. It's time we parents stand up to the he-women before the gelding of another generation of American males is complete.
